The Resource Group provides outpatient-only psychiatric care. We do not offer inpatient hospitalization, residential treatment, or psychiatric rehabilitation programs (PRP). All psychiatric services are delivered through scheduled outpatient appointments at our Towson clinic or via telehealth.
What Is Psychiatric Medication Management?
Medication management is an outpatient psychiatric service in which a trained clinician evaluates your mental health symptoms, recommends a medication plan when appropriate, and monitors your response to treatment over time.
It is not a one-time prescription. It is an ongoing clinical relationship — typically beginning with a comprehensive evaluation appointment, followed by regular follow-up visits to assess how your medication is working, adjust dosages, and address any side effects.
Many patients benefit from medication management in combination with therapy. Because The Resource Group offers both services under one roof, your psychiatry provider and therapist can coordinate your care directly.
Who Provides Psychiatric Care at The Resource Group?
Our psychiatric providers are Doctors and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) — advanced practice clinicians with specialized graduate training in psychiatric diagnosis, medication prescribing, and mental health treatment.
PMHNPs are licensed to evaluate your symptoms, diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, and provide supportive care. For most patients seeking medication management in the Baltimore area, a PMHNP offers equivalent clinical expertise to a psychiatrist, often with faster appointment availability.

- ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) — including evaluation, diagnosis, and ongoing medication management

What to Expect at Your First Appointment
Your initial psychiatric appointment at The Resource Group is a comprehensive evaluation, typically 60 minutes. Your provider will review your personal and medical history, current symptoms, any medications you are currently taking, and your treatment goals.
At the end of the evaluation, your provider will discuss a treatment plan. This may include:
- A medication recommendation, if appropriate
- A referral to one of our therapists for individual therapy or DBT
- A combined approach — medication management and therapy together
Follow-up medication management appointments are typically 30 minutes. Frequency depends on your treatment plan and how your medication is working.
Integrated Care — Psychiatry and Therapy Under One Roof
One advantage of seeing both a psychiatry provider and a therapist at The Resource Group is that your care team can communicate directly. You do not need to coordinate between two separate practices or explain your history twice.
If your psychiatry provider believes therapy would support your treatment — or your therapist believes medication may help — a referral happens within the same clinic.
