I ended up getting a DUI and DWI this past year in 2023. My lawyer recommended that I start taking alcohol/substance-abuse classes. So I looked up a couple places and decided to go with The Resource Group counseling and education center located at 8501 LaSalle Road Suite 115, Towson, MD 21286.

I did my first intake session with Mr. Elliott Driscoll. I was extremely nervous, but Mr. Driscoll made the Session very easy. He had a very pleasant attitude, he joked a little, and made me feel like things would work out that everybody makes mistakes.. So he recommended that I take a 12 weekly appointment. Every time I had my appointment Mr. Elliott Driscoll would welcome me and greet everyone that was in the group. He would make sure everyone participated and that we all knew each other and could relate.

Mr. Driscoll was very professional and had a lot of knowledge. I’ve been places before where you feel lost or you don’t understand but I did not feel that way at this classes at all. And if you ever didn’t understand something, he was eagerly writing to explain it better so you could understand it if you need to take classes, I’m telling you this is the best place to take them. By the end of your classes, you will feel like you are part of a small family and that nobody judges you and accepts you. And if you can get Mr. Elliott Driscoll as your leader you’ll be even better.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a DUI/Early Intervention Class?

A state-mandated education program for individuals convicted of driving under the influence. It covers the legal and health consequences of impaired driving, risk reduction strategies, and skills to prevent future incidents. Completion is typically required to satisfy court or MVA requirements.

What is the difference between the 12-hour and 26-hour program?

The 12-hour program is designed for first-time offenders. The 26-hour program is for repeat offenders or when a longer program is required by the court or MVA. If you’re unsure which applies to you, check with your attorney or the terms of your judgment.

How quickly can I enroll and start?

We use rolling registration, which means you can enroll and begin almost immediately. Contact us and we’ll get you started as soon as possible.

Is this program approved by the State of Maryland?

Yes. Our program is certified by the Maryland Department of Health and meets the requirements of the Maryland MVA and court system for all 24 counties.

My DUI was in Maryland but I live out of state — can I still take this class?

Yes. Because our program is fully online, you can participate from anywhere. Our certification meets Maryland’s requirements. That said, we recommend confirming with your attorney that our program satisfies the specific terms of your case.

Can I transfer hours from another program?

Yes. If you’ve already completed hours elsewhere and want to transfer to our program, we can accommodate that. Note that upon completion you will receive a letter indicating the number of hours completed with us, rather than a certificate of full completion. Check with your attorney to confirm this meets your requirements.

How does the class work?

Classes meet online for one hour per week. The 12-hour program runs 12 weeks; the 26-hour program runs 26 weeks. Sessions are conducted in a small group format led by a licensed counselor.

How much does it cost?

Please contact us directly for current pricing. We’re happy to answer any questions about fees when you call or submit an inquiry.

Is my attendance confidential?

Yes. Information shared during the program is kept confidential within the bounds of the program. Exceptions may apply where disclosure is required by law or where there is a concern about imminent harm to oneself or others.

What happens if I miss a session?

Missing a session may extend the duration of your program or require make-up hours. Contact us as soon as possible if you anticipate an absence. You should also notify your attorney or probation officer of any missed sessions.

Will I receive a certificate when I finish?

Yes. Upon completing the full program with us, you will receive a certificate of completion. If you transferred hours from another provider, you will receive a letter documenting the hours completed with The Resource Group.

Will completing this class remove the DUI from my record?

No. Completing the program satisfies a legal requirement — it does not automatically expunge or seal your record. Consult an attorney for questions about expungement. Nothing in this FAQ constitutes legal advice.

Is follow-up support available after I complete the program?

Yes. The Resource Group offers referrals to counseling, support groups, and other resources if you’d like continued support after completing the program. Speak with your instructor or contact us for more information.

Is this class accepted by the Maryland MVA?

Yes. Our program meets Maryland MVA requirements. If you have specific questions about reinstatement or license requirements, we recommend confirming directly with the MVA or your attorney.
